Hi Judy...Thanks for the Goss information. I know that after Sultana married the Mitchell she was then known to be in Woodland. About 20 years ago I tried searching her out but to no avail. From family reports she was supposed to have a Goss family book in her possession. Wouldn't I love to have someone share that with me! Please keep on the look out for the Mary Nulty/McNulty that married Levi Goss in Ione. Jackie [email protected]

Carolyn...just a couple tidbits...under local items Amador Dispatch Jan 4, 1901: The wind last night tore off a section of the roof of Kay's photograph gallery, damaging it considerably. Amador Dispatch Feb 15, 1901: Last to Go One by one trees lining Main Street are falling before the axe. Last one to go is a large locust in front of the Kay building. Jackie [email protected]
Eugene, here is the article in its entirety: July 6, 1900 Amador Dispatch Mrs. Adams, a pioneer lady, formerly of this county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dufrense, 320 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, on Saturday June 23rd & was buried the following Tuesday in Cypress Lawn Cemetery. She was 75 years of age & leaves two sons, Arthur Adams of Lancha Plana & Edgar Ekel of Forest Home, two step-sons, Henry Ekel of Forest Home, John E. Ekel of Plymouth, one daughter, Mrs, Dufrense to mourn her death. It will be most sadly felt by the daughter, whose chief companion she was since the departure of her husband, Mr. Dufrense, to Cape Nome, whither he has gone to dispose of some rich mines. Those who were present at the old lady's bedside to minister to her last wants on this earth were her daughter, her granddaughter, Mr. C.H. Shiels & her grandson, Eddie Bawden. Hi...have searched back through my files but can't find what I think I remember seeing. Was there someone on this list looking into the Ginocchio names? As to which were brothers, maybe? Jackie in Jackson [email protected]

Jackie -- In my files I found an obit for Mrs. Sultana White, who died in 1923. She was a native of Arkansas. She was survived by daughter Mrs. Sultana Mitchell, plus another daughter and a son. Would this be the same Sultana Mitchell who was formerly Sultana Goss???? If you'd like a copy, let me know & I'll post it. Dear Amador County: I cruised through your web page and found it to be very informative and attractive! You have set it up well, and everyone is very willing to help. I am on a couple of lists, where you wonder if anyone is at home. Your doing a great job! I just wanted to tell you this before I unsubscribe, cause just found out that my VICINI, was not here. But, anyhow, some of the conversations, can't they be done email to email, instead of through the list? New people coming on to the list will not understand or can relate to these conversations. And some of the content should be private. Good Luck, and continued good job! Jean HEHN
Someone!! I got a report from my library that they will do a national search for my film; I think one of you can shorten the process by giving me the address (which you may have done before but I can't find)--- Thanks, Win On Wed, 2 Jun 1999 10:37:30 -0500 "Abbie Parrish" <[email protected]> writes: >Steve, Got your message, and you can count me in, I also got you 4 >more >volunteers, as I have 2 grown daughters and 2 cousins who will help. >I think some of the lookups were the ones I did, I was swamped, but >enjoyed >every minute, and when I get new books will volunteer to do more, I >believe >in our projects, >being a professional genealogist, I have recruited another >professional from >our group to help, she thinks our projects are great and says they >will give >her some shortcuts on her job, I bet the professional genealogist out >there >are thrilled, one of my friends is one of the top genealogist in the >U.S. >and she says BRAVO, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, 'well I have five jobs >going at >once so will close and get to work. Steve & Art -- I have been working for months with someone who is, as yet, an untapped Amador County resource. This old family friend (an almost lifelong Amador resident) has a wealth of Amador information and was ready to share same with listers. However, due to events of June 1 (subtle enough, Steve?), the offer has now been withdrawn. As a result, no only have my time and effots been wasted, but Amador researchers will not have the benefits of this person's knowledge. Steve, Got your message, and you can count me in, I also got you 4 more volunteers, as I have 2 grown daughters and 2 cousins who will help. I think some of the lookups were the ones I did, I was swamped, but enjoyed every minute, and when I get new books will volunteer to do more, I believe in our projects, being a professional genealogist, I have recruited another professional from our group to help, she thinks our projects are great and says they will give her some shortcuts on her job, I bet the professional genealogist out there are thrilled, one of my friends is one of the top genealogist in the U.S. and she says BRAVO, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, 'well I have five jobs going at once so will close and get to work.
