    1. [CAAMADOR-L] Ratto married to Ratto
    2. Jennie, Your e-mail was forwarded to me by Jean Hehn. My husbands great Aunt and Uncle were GERVASIO and MARY RATTO. The information I have so far shows MARY was the daughter of STEFANO RATTO and MAGDELINA QUEROLO. MARY was born in Jackson Ca and GERVASIO in Genova Italy. Perhaps they were not related or very distant cousins!! I have not checked out Mary's parentage but intend to do so. GERVASIO and MARY are buried here in Colma Ca. in Holy Cross Cemetery. Terry Ratto

Taken from July 1901 Amador Dispatch A party of Jackson people enjoyed the day last Saturday at the Experiment Station, and it is needless to say, when the personnel of the party is known, that a pleasant day was passed. 2. Carolyn Crawford
    3. Jackie, You sent me a post with some dates for my Kay's and you said : >> (They are in area with Thomas A. & Roberta (Kay) Hedgepeth. Do you happen to have any dates of death for Thomas A. & Roberta (Kay) Hedgepeth? I think my Wallace Kay and AL Harding came out at the same time. AL Harding had a child born in 1858 in Ohio and his next child was born in 1860 in Pine Grove. I think that the Kay and Harding families came to Amador County in 1859. So your photo was probably taken between 1859 and 1900. When Kay died in 1906 he was 78 years old. Kay was also 13 years older than his wife who would have been 18 in 1859. And 5 years younger than AL Harding. If they came in 1859 Wallace would have been 31years old and AL would have been 36 years old. Does that help pin point your pictures a little better? Carolyn

    1. [CAAMADOR-L] Something interesting
    2. Jackie
    3. Hi...saw something interesting tonight. A family is staying with me for a month & their son is in the 4th grade. Tomorrow his class is going gold panning. They have to have gold pans, metal pie pans to eat from, he's got a straw hat, root beer (supposed to take place of sasspharla) (?) The teacher is really trying to make this a history lesson. What is so interesting is: they were all given original checks from the Bank of Amador. His is a check from April 1918 to George W. Lucot from the Keystone Mine in the amount of $302.00. On the back is stamped "George Lucot, tax collector". I told him that he better have his mom put the check away in archival plastic as that would be a treasure to keep. Hope all the other kids realize how great that little piece of paper is. Jackie in Jackson
