    3. There is an area off of Hwy 49 between Calaveras and Amador Co at the bridge that goes over the Mokelumne River that is called Electra Rd. It is a beautiful spot and wonderful to swim and picnic at. Possibly there was a town called Electra there at one time. 3. In a recent trip to Carson City I was fortunate to find 2 Amador Co. books in an antiquarian book shop. I am having a great time reading Logan's Alley: Amador County In Picture and Prose, Vol.I by Larry Cenotto. In the front of the book is a letter from Mr Cenotto and a 5.00 coupon toward the second volume. Does anyone out there know if the second volume was ever printed? I also found a copy of Thompson and West's History of Amador County. Julie

    3. Seriously Judy, don't you think some neat melodramas could be made of all these historic dramas from Amador County, for the visiting tourists? Who has the money for a theater, I guess? Back in the early 1980's my folks showed us the neatest theater, I think, in Sutter Creek. Perfect place for this kind of thing. 1. [CAAMADOR-L] Culbert Wedding 1901
    2. Jackie
    3. (This article is mainly for Bill Baccus, but Win hang on till you get to end where guest list is). November 1, 1901 Amador Dispatch A Pretty Home Wedding One of the prettiest home weddings ever witnessed in Amador county took place at the home of Mrs. E.J. Culbert, at Amador City, last Saturday morning, at eleven o'clock, when Miss Elizabeth J. Culbert and Mr. Charles E. Bunker were made husband and wife by the Rev. William Tuson. The bride is one of Amador county's most charming young ladies, having lived at Amador City all her life, and has a host of friends who wish her great joy and happiness in her new life. Mr. Bunker is a young man connected with the Keystone Mining Company at Amador City, and his popularity is vouched for by the reception tendered him on Tuesday evening by a large number of friends. After the ceremony and congratulations, all were invited into the handsomely decorated dining-room, where an elaborage wedding breakfast was discussed. (That's the word used, does that mean they talked about breakfast but never ate it?). At one o'clock the newly married couple took their departure, amid a shower of rice and good wishes, for Ione to catch the afternoon train for San Francisco and other southern parts of the State. Besides the members of the family of the bride, those present were Mr. & Mrs. Bunker, senior, and Miss F. McMurtie of San Joaquin county, Miss Daisy Fox, W.A. Prichard, John A. Phipps, Mr. Meikeljohn, John A. Phipps jr, Mr. & Mrs. M.B. Church, G.C. Davis of Amador City, W.Dolan of Livermore, Rev. William Tuson, B. R. Breese and Robert C. Bole of Jackson. 3. A Christmas Wedding At the early hour of six Christmas morning, Miss Inga Kay and Herbert Bright were united in marriage at the home of the bride's father, Mr. Wallace Kay, by the Rev. Mr. Tuson. Miss Jenkins of Lincoln acting as bridesmaid and Mr. Wilbur Williams of Ione as best man. The house had been tastily decorated by the girl friends of the bride with holly and green. Only members of the families were present with the exception of two lady friends. After the ceremony a dainty breakfast was served, and at 7:40 o'clock amid a shower of rice and trailing shoes the happy couple departed to spend their honeymoon in San Francisco and Palo Alto. Edwin Rust, who is a student at the State University, came home Wednesday evening for the holiday vacation. B.C. O'Neill, superintendent of the Del Monte mine in Calaveras county, spent Christmas with his family here. Mr. & Mrs. H.E. Potter of Plymouth took their Christmas dinner with Mrs. Potter's mother, Mrs. J.B. Parker, in this town. Miss Hilda Clough, her mother and Miss Eva Leak took their Christmas dinner with the Bradshaws, at Grass Valley, near Pine Grove. Charles Rothe, of San Francisco has located in Jackson and will teach all band instruments, violin, cornet and clarionet. Residence at Henry Weil's. Terms reasonable. Miss Madge Rust who is attending the College of Pharmacy at San Francisco, came up Wednesday evening to spend a couple of days at home. She will go back tomorrow. Dr. Fine, who has been resident physcian at Electra for some time past, left there last week for his former home at Oakland where he will engage in practice with his father. Mrs.E.A. Pitois, mother of Mrs. Theresa Gilbert, Mrs. Fannie Bonnefoy and Emil Pitois, has been quite sick during the last three weeks, but is improving under the care of Dr. Schacht. Master Leslie Cramer, son of H. Cramer, jr. , has been very sick for over a week with la grippe. We are pleased to be able to say that Dr. Endicott, the attending physcian, reports that the little man is better. The Rev. W. Tuson and family desire to thank the many kind friends of Jackson, Sutter Creek, Mokelumne Hill, Ione and Paloma for their greetings and substantial Christmas gifts; wishing them all a prosperous spiritual year. J.F. Parks, superintendent of the Kennedy mine, came home Tuesday evening. The Dispatch is informed that he looks well, notwithstanding his recent accident, and, carrying his arm in a sling, is able to look after the usual business of his official position. C.H. McKenney, Amador county tailor and draper, Ione, Cal, will make monthly trips to Jackson, Sutter Creek, Amador City, Drytown and Plymouth, and will carry with him 500 of the latest and most up to date samples in season. 2. Lola Yes, C. P. Vicini and another attorney defended him. I don't know how to get copies of all of the articles. So far there have been 3 in the papers I have read. They are really very long, so I had to condense them. Maybe some of the group would know. I am sure there will be more to this, new evidence etc. Maybe someone in the group knows how to get the articles. Donna

    3. Hello All....that's how I think the computer is...amazing. What opportunities we are being afforded with all the technology in these days. Yes, I know that one needs to get verified source documents & all that but the opportunity for getting clues to lead you to maybe just the right place is mind boggling. I have a friend, that lives close by, that is doing family research & today she received a communication from a lady in Ohio requesting verification if their lines really connected. This lady sent a descending tree with all these names listed. Many, many of the names are known to me. One was Vicini. So I clipped out that portion & sent it on to Jean in CO. who may contact the lady in Ohio. Who knows maybe they'll find their connection & Jean will have more Vicini data. But....isn't that amazing? This lady in Ohio just happens to write a lady in California that just happened to share her story with me who just happens to know about a lady in CO with the same name connection. I think these "just happen" stories are great. Jackie in California [email protected]

    1. [CAAMADOR-L] Early morning weddings
    2. Jackie
    3. Donna...I thought weddings taking place from 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. were misprints too. In one of my issues of papers there was a statement that, with the new team of horses & wagon that leaving from the Globe Hotel in Jackson at 6 a.m. one could arrive in Stockton by 3 p.m. Many of these newly married couples wanted to go "down below" or on to "the city" for their honeymoons, so by being married early in the morning they could make their carriage departure on time. So your article probably wasn't a misprint. Jackie in California [email protected]
