Hi All, Just wanted to share with all of you the treasure I found in the main library (Doe) at the University of California at Berkeley. It had cabinets full of microfilm of all the main newspapers in all the counties of California, all the San Francisco newspapers, foreign newspapers printed in Calif. and foreign newspapers printed in different countries and main newspapers of all of the states. Nearly every microfilm I chose I found something I needed. The personnel were very helpful, the periodical room is smallish compared with the rest of the library but it has many microfilm readers which all copy for 25cents. The listings of materials are by date in index books, so if you know what date just look it up and it will tell you what newspapers the library has for those dates. It was very easy to park in an underground university lot off of Bancroft ave. and approx. 2 block walk through the campus to the main library. (Altho they charge 75cents/half hour for parking!!) Basically if you can get to Sather Gate it is the 2nd building on the right. I couldn't believe the wonderful amount of resources available right in one room. So much microfilm so little time!!! The university has a web site with a map -- www.lib.berkeley.edu/LibraryMap/ If you can get there I highly recommend it. Kathy Santa Cruz
