Hi Colleen Thank you for your response. I'm still in the dark but my grandfather had one child born in each of those places. Since he was a lumberman, I assume it is McDowell up towards the Oregon border in Siskiyou County. Siskon City is similar in spelling as in Siskiyou County so they may have meant Siskyou County. Who knows? Then again it could have been Fort McDowell as he had a brother in Berkeley about that time. 1911 & 1913. >Tried these two geographic search sites: >http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html > >http://shiva.pub.getty.edu/tgn_browser/ > >Fort McDowell (inhabited place) > >Lat: 37 51 N Long: 122 25 W (represented in degrees minutes direction) >Lat: 37.850 Long: -122.417 (represented in decimal degress and fractions of >degrees) > >Hierarchical Position: > North and Central America.......(continent) > United States...................(nation) > California......................(state) > San Francisco...................(county) >Additional Parents: > Marin >Names: > Fort McDowell (C,V) >Place Types: > inhabited place (C) >Sources: > Fort McDowell...........................
