Melodee You might want to check first at the Oakland Library Newspaper Room, for they have the voting rolls, which list everyone who had signed up to vote, in the different years. You might want to check the 1912 list, for in California, that would of been the first year his wife could of voted. Women in California, got the right to vote on Oct 11, 1911. For if they were able to vote they had become citizens, as to where the paper work would be not sure it could be at the Alameda Court House, which is just across the street from the Main Library.
