If an obituary was published it might appear in one of the larger newspapers such as: SF Chronicle, SF Examiner, Oakland Tribune, or San Jose Mecury News. Or, it might be in one of the many smaller newspapers serving individual communities. The Oakland library has microfilm of the Oakland Tribune, the San Francisco library has the SF Examiner and SF Chronicle, the Berkeley library has the Gazette, which was not in print in 1991. Smaller libraries within the county might have film for their communities such as Hayward, Fremont, Pleasanton, etc. If you want to know where they were living and where they died you can order a copy of their death certificates from the county. Then you can zero in on the obituary, or contact the funeral home and ask for a copy. The county's web site provides information on how to order vital records at: http://www.co.alameda.ca.us/ For a list of research libraries in the SF Bay Area try the Consortium web site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~casfbagc/Pages/libraries.htm For a list of cities, towns, and communities as well as newspapers in Alameda County try the Links & List page for Alameda County, part of CA GenWeb and USGENWEB at: http://www.cagenweb.com/alameda/Pages/lists_links.htm Good luck, Cat Nielsen CAGenWeb Alameda County
