Yes, the obituary in The New York Times was among the ones I read. Other papers, like LA Times (http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-nelson14apr14,1,7179283.story ), seems to have got the birth year right, but not necessarily the birth place, cf. the birth index that metaphor quoted. I thought about ordering the birth certificate, but when I tried to order, I had to tell what relationship I had, like family relationship, government agency, attorney etc., but I am none of the alternatives.
