The dead were identified as: Walter J. Singleton, 55, 3340 Kempton avenue, Oakland, manager of the Grove street branch of the Bank of America at 5501 Grove street, Oakland. Patricia Ann Porter, 19, his daughter the wife of baseball star J. W. Porter who was signed by the Chicago White Sox for a reported $60,000 bonus in December, 1950. Elizabeth Piercy, 29, of Cardell Okla., and her 8-month-old daughter, Linda Colleen. Singleton left Oakland several days ago to go to Colorado Springs to pick up his daughter and rind her back to the Bay Area. Porter, a catcher, was a star at Oakland Technical High School and for the Bill Irwin Post of the American Legion before being signed by the White Sox. He was sent to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. Early this week he was sold by the White Sox to the St. Louis Browns and ordered to report there to play. He had suggested that his young wife return to the Bay Area until he got settled in St. Louis. The couple were married last December. Four other persons, all occupants of the Piercy automobile, were seriously injured in the wreck. They were identified as Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Piercy of Cardell, Okla., and their sons, Jimmy, 10, and Clinton, 13. Also found a article in the Oakland Tribune, but it had less information. Hope this helps George Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
