I looked for a Singleton with a keyword of Colorado in 1956, and did not find reference to your aunt's father. It would help if you had his first name. I also looked for an article on Patricia Porter without luck. There are 23 articles in 1956 which reference Singleton. These articles are between May and Oct. Also, a year or two ago, I was in the UP and my cousins could access Ancestry.com with their local library card from their homes. Apparently the Michigan State Library has an agreement with Ancestry which provides this access. Is it still available?
