Her father was Charles Monroe Degraff and his older borther Oscar came to this area ca. 1880 and started in the lead mining business then went on into sucessful businesses in other fields. They came from Minesota so I have no other info on them. My mother was one of 9 children and one of her brothers Tom was a police detective in Joplin, MO during the 1930's and 40';s. He was involved in the shoot out with the Bonnie and Clyde gang here in 13 April 1933 and his partner was fatally wounded in that incident. Jus this past week a local minister and his wife wanted to make the building into a bed and breakfast business but the neighbors objected to it since it was in a residental area and on a narrow city street.
