    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/zV.2ADI/1850.1 Message Board Post: Hi Rose, 1895 is a difficult date to obtain either record. For the birth record it would be best to inquire at the Alameda County Clerk Recorders office. A phone call or letter to learn if they have 1895 birth records for Oakland. Their phone number is (510) 272-6362 Fax:(510)6382 Snail: County of Alameda Clerk Recorder 1106 Madison Street Oakland, CA 94607 Attn:Malinda Jones-Williams If you get on their website they probably have an e-mail contact for questions. (Google will have their website). Goodluck. I tried for a year to locate my late husband's father's birth record. Alameda County said it would have been at the Berkeley Health Department in 1894. Berkeley said Alameda would have it. After more than one attempt by each place they never found his birth record. Otherwise I have had wonderful results from the Alameda County Recorder's vital records division. Now the other problem in finding a baptism would be that Oakland was in the Archdiocese of San Francisco in 1895. I could not even get a response from the SF Diocese pertaining to a marrriage.and I knew the church. Their were several Parish churches in Oakland and vicinity in 1895. All of the sacramental records were supposed to be transferred to the Oakland Diocese when it was formed, however how complete they are is debatable. Try inquiring at e-mail > C.
