Alida Brittan is born somewhere between 1830 (listed as age 20 as Alida BRITTON in Newburgh, Orange Co, NY) and 1836 listed as age 23 in 1860 census 4th Ward of San Francicso City with husband Charles VAIL age 30 and son Robert age 2 and a male infant not named aged 8 months (this is Charles). She is also the mother of Walter born 1863 and a daughter Frances B. born 1865.
