    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/zV.2ADI/1782.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Cleo, The most likely source for the mother's maiden names would be on the death certificates. Provided the informant knew that information The second possible place for the mother's maiden name would be the marriage license. You can order a copy of the death certificate from the San Francisco Clerk Recorder's office (google their web page). For the Alameda death you should be able to order one from the Alameda County Clerk Recorder site. A note about Alameda County - the City of Berkeley has its own vital records department. Currently deaths in Berkeley will show up in the county records as well. In 1919, a Berkeley death only shows up in the Berkeley death certificates. I do not know the date they began showing up in the county as well. So, you may want to determine (from an obit) which town the son died in, or take a chance and order a copy from the county.
