He was the eldest brother of my grandfather Saxton Seth Acker. I believe their father was Warren J. Acker, but do not have proof. Their mother's name might be Maria Farnsworth, born in Vermont. Charles was born about 1834 in New York. The family moved to Fredonia, Calhoun, MI around 1835. Charles is probably listed on the 1860 Washington, Alameda U.S. Census. He married Ellen Samantha Beck, and their sons were Charles Frank and Curtis Hower. I have striking photographs of the family and their ranch at Livermore, but can find no information on Charles' grandfather or later California Ackers. Family history says that they had one son who froze to death in a blizzard attempting to get Christmas presents for his little daughter. I believe this may be fact.
