Jamie, I looked at the CA Death Index and see that your Robert A. STEARMAN was age 88 at the time of his death in 1938. Looking at US Censuses for a Robert STEARMAN born anywhere c1850 (+/- 2 years) and residing anywhere, I find only one match per census year, and the middle initial A appears in at least two of these matches. This particular individual I'm finding was born in IL to Robert C. STEARMAN and wife Frances. He appears to have married GRACE and migrated from IL to KS to ID before coming to CA (Los Angeles) before the 1930 census. Do you need any of this census information? Hello all, I have been trying for 2 years now, to order the death cert of Robert A. STEARMAN died March 4, 1938. First I sent it to the wrong address supplied on the internet (how can the internet be wrong...; ) It took a while, but came back. Then I sent it to another address supplied by people who knew and they have not cashed my check yet. That was almost 13 months ago. It has not come back, but I've given up. I decided to buy it on line, however, they require (or they won't let you continue on to buy it) the parent's names and the city the person died in. He died in Alameda County, but I don't know what city. And if I knew the parent's names, I wouldn't be ordering the cert! So, where do I go from here? Is there a place I can check the city he might have died in? I even have the state file #, but they don't ask you for that on line. Thank you for any help you might be able to offer. jamie

Have tried to e-mail you at the address you gave, but just won't work. Would like to know if you can help further. This is very complicated re names, but will try to spell it out. I have Cochran Mccarron born abt 1872 Glsagow Scotland, son of Joesph Mccarron and Margaret Russell. Joseph was my Gt Grandfather. This Cochran emmigrated to the US in the 1880s. He married Annie McLeod, and they had children Joseph Alexander born 1905, Dorothy born 1914, and Norman born 1915. I don't know if they had any other children. Joseph Alexander marrried Ruth Goddard, and they had children, Joseph Alexander born 1937,Barry Michael born 1939, and Scott Alan born 1952. Dorothy married Bill Stuht, and they had children, Robert, William, and Michael. Dorothy died in 1959. There was another Cochran McCaron born Ireland about 1862, who I believe from the info you have given me, could have been my Gt Grandfather's brother, as you have told me he is buried alongside a David McCarron, native of Ireland, born abt 1847. My Gt Granfather Joseph had a brother David born about the same time, and his father's name was Cochran. This Cochran also emmigrated to the US and lived in Oakland, as did the other Cochran. I think they mmay have been uncle and nephew. This 2nd Cochran married Jennie Davis, and they had children, Jennie, Elizabeth and David. This is as much as I know, except that there is a Scott McCarron who is quite a well known golfer, that I thibk could be related, but cannot find any proof of his parentage. Only that he lived in the same area as some of the other McCarrons. i.e. Rancho Murieta. Can you help? No doubt you are confused. So am I!! I have some more limited information re- locations, if you need it. But don't want to go into information overload.!!!!
