Hello, Do not count San Francisco County out for Portuguese marriages for Alameda county residents. My great-grandparents were residents of Alameda County (Fremont area) and traveled to San Francisco as that same time period.....they were married at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church....and i have heard of other Portuguese who seemed to do the same from outside areas. That church no longer exists and I believe the records are at St. Peter and Paul (the one in the Italian district....North Beach)......I found mine by going to the church. ........did not look at the county records. Jerry The Alameda County Recorder's Office,http://www.acgov.org/auditor/clerk/ has them, you check the index yourself, which give the names of the two people, when, where and who preformed the marriage. It is on film, you then order a copy if you want. A hint if you go, tell the the clerk who gives you number that they will call, that you are going to look this up, if not they will give you a order form. I have a question, at age would a child name be listed in the California Death Index. For I found a child who was killed at the age of 4 months, with his mother, on July 4, 1907. He is listed, with just the letters ZZ. Now in the articles in the papers that I found about their death, his first name is listed. So any idea why his first name not listed? Yes they are the SIEGRIST'S, mother's name is Anna, he was named Henry Jr. George --------------------------------- Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell? Check outnew cars at Yahoo! Would like to thank everyone. I found what I think was her husband, in the 1907 Oakland Directory, listed as Henry RIGLEY. So looks like on Monday, I will have to check the marriage index at the Alameda County Recorder's Office. So I looked at the Oakland Tribune of July 5, 1907 to see what had happened found the story but her name is listed as Anna RIGLEY. Her husband is listed a Henry RIGLEY. Even the death notice the next day gives the same last name. I have also checked the San Francisco Call, Examiner and the Chronicle, all three cover the story, and state her name as RIGLEY. Checked the California Death Index, and they are listed as SIEGRIST, Anna and a unnamed infant. So what is going on? By the way, what had happened was a mortar exploded and she was hit by a piece of metal, in the heart, and the infant, arm was tore off. I have no idea where Mr. Dugger was born or even when. My information is very limited. Mr. Dugger retired from the Oakland Tribune Newspaper in the late 1960's or 1970's. They had a daughter born in Alameda County, California in 1952. The California Birth Index lists Mr. Dugger's wife's maiden name as "Jones". If so has any knowledge of these people or how I might go about finding information on Oakland Tribune Newspaper employees back in the 1960's please let me know. Thank you.
