I am looking for the descendants of DAVID FERRIS SIMONS. He died in Hayward California in the 1970s in his 80s. He was born in Bermuda and was of Portuguese descent. He moved to California in the 1930s. I have been researching the Simons family in Bermuda and would like to fill in David's line. He was my great-grandfather Johns, brother. I have a beautiful photograph of him as a young man and another in wedding attire. I would love to share these pictures. I have a death certificate and obituary but nothing has led me to any children. The next of kin was listed as Hilda Simons. Does anyone live in Hayward and remember a SIMONS family from BERMUDA? We know very little and are trying to learn more of my wifes family. We think her great grandfather is Michael Foertsch(Foartsch) born 5/1865 and her great grandmother is Amefia born 9/1866. We think her grandfather Matthew Michael Foertsch was born 8/1889. There was a period of years from about 1888 when the family went to Alameda, California from Chicago and then returned to Chicago ten years later. During this time her great grandfather was born, and we think he had a brother. If anyone can help us develope this information we would be willing to pay a fee. We live in Indiana and cannot come to California to pursue this.

DODGE This family resided in the Oakland area since the 1920 at 6031 Chabot Road and in 1949 lived at 1032 Colusa, Berkeley. All are buried in Berkeley Crematorium at Sunset Memorial cemetery. Any help on Sarah, her husband and any of their children would be greatly appreciated. I live in Chicago, IL and do not have access to Oakland papers for obits. The only person I have an actual death date for is Sarah, but I do know of years of death for other family members. Perhaps could be checked in CADI - I do not have access to that either. I have an obituary from 1928 where a certain person's funeral was held at the Grant D. Miller Funeral Chapel, 2372 East Fourteenth St., corner Twenty-fourth Ave. in Oakland. Is anyone familiar with the Mt. View Cemetery in Oakland? I'm looking for a particular family that was buried there. I know one person was for sure: George Washington "Swope" Hull was buried there in 1911. His children are Clarence, Georgia, Lee, Howard, Fayette, and Bernard. If you are an Alameda County researcher and would like to *occasionally* help people out with their research but don't want to get bogged down by commiting to do lookups on a regular basis, there is a way you can have your good-deed cake and eat it too! Visit the Alameda County GenWeb site (url listed below), click on the "Queries" and select one to adopt. The next time you're at your favorite research site, do the lookup and send it off to the requester. I've tried to make it easy for good samaritan wannabes by providing a "help for the helpers" section at the bottom of the query page. There you can find an index by "most recent queries" and by city. I also check with query posters every 6 mos or so to assure that the query is relatively current--thereby cutting down on the horrible frustration that comes with doing the work of researching only to find a dead email address or that the person already has the info. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could be so kind to do a lookup on the CAMI for any and all MOZINGO's or MAZINGO's married in the SF Bay area between 1940 and 1944? Since this name is so very rare I suspect that the only one that will show up is my father. My father William L. Mozingo was in the Navy and married twice during this time period. Spent almost all of his 20 year Navy career from 1936 to 1956 in California. According to his Navy Records his first wife was Erla Mae and second wife Margaret Ruth both of which I do not have a maiden name on to pursue more information. I am also looking for information on a child with Robert as a first or middle name born to my father and Margaret Ruth during this time frame maybe up to 1946. Thank you very much. Hi- is anyone on this list able to try a Death date look up for me? My GGGGrandmother Mary A. WATSON was alive for the 1900 census in Oakland, but her husband is a widower in 1910 when he moved in with the other son in law in San Francisco, so Im guessing that Mary, who was born in Ireland bet 1822-1829 died bet 1900-1910, age 68-88, spouse Charles, in Oakland,ca.
