Wesselhoft on 10-Feb-1936 in Stanislaus County. I just got a copy of her death record, and although her parents' names are not shown, it states that her maiden name was HEAD and that she was born on 22-May-1889 in Oakland, CA. Hopefully, with this information, the Alameda County recorder can come through for me! I'll keep you posted!

    3. Chris, To elaborate on what Rebekah said, I suggest you try to get a death certificate first. I noticed that the SSDI said his last residence was in San Francisco Co., CA. He might not have died there, but chances are he did. Anyone can get a California death certificate for anyone. The State turned over the death certificates to the individual counties about 3 years ago. Go to http://www.vitalrec.com for address, fee, and instructions, etc. Unfortunately, the California Death Index only goes to 1997. Yes, his SSDI application should help, but it's more costly ($27 I think) and it would probably take a long time to get. Also, if you get the death certificate and learn the exact place of death, you could probably find an obituary. You would also have the funeral home and cemetery that may be able to give you some additional info. Sometimes they have the obits in their files. Looks like Richard Miller was not born in California. I checked that for you. Perhaps you can obtain his birth certificate once you find out if this is your brother. 3. Cris, I see from the SSDI that Richard's middle initial was "L" and that his last residence on file with the SSA was in San Francisco. Because the death is so recent, it seems reasonable to expect to find him in a telephone directory. Have you searched at whitepages.com for a Richard L. MILLER in the San Francisco bay area? ----- Original Message ---- From: "crazyangel25@webtv.net" <crazyangel25@webtv.net> To: caalamed@rootsweb.com Cc: caalamed@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, February 12, 2007 12:54:08 AM Subject: [CAALAMED] need help with a ssdi I found an entiry at the California Social Security Death Index and am hopig someone can tell me how I can find out more or who verified this death The entry is for Richard MILLER born 3/15/1940 died 8/14/2006, his social was 556-50-4621. 3. Cris, Are you looking at the Social Security Death Index or the California Death Index? I am guessing that with a recent date you are looking at the SSDI.:-? 3. Found on the social security death index a Barbara Jackson born 30 December 1930 and died in June 1966. It says her social security no. was issued in Ohio but does not say where she died. That probably is not her but just thought I would tell you. 1. Re: [CAALAMED] looking for an obit
    2. Hi Karen it is possible, and probable that she was born in another state. Clarke was born in Montana, I know lived in Colorado and Virginia..He was also in the military so could have met her any where I suppose. I know he was in California at least in the late 1940's until his death. Yes JACKSON is a very common name. Clarke was a white male born 1923 in Montana. He is buried in Oregon at the National Cemetery.. Thanks again Cris - Atwater California

    3. I couldn't find anyone with that name in the California death index. Found her husband though. Maybe her real first name is different. There are so many Jacksons. ----- Original Message ----- From: <crazyangel25@webtv.net> To: <caalamed@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 10, 2007 10:22 AM Subject: Re: [CAALAMED] looking for an obit > no unfortunatley that all I know about her..I would guess she was in her > late 20's to 30's., her husband was born 1923 I think.(or real close 21 > or 22) I know nothing about here at all. > Thanks for your reply > Cris > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > CAALAMED-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
