Well Cochran was born abt 1871 in Scotland, and emmigrated abt 1889-90. Joseph Alexander was born 1905, so any information after that date would be great. I know that Cochran was quite a prominent citizen in Oakland. He ran a Tea, coffee and spices business. He was a Rotarian, and was a local commissioner. He died in 1941. I don't know anything about Joseph's children other than their names, but am puzzling about whether I may have missed a generation, as I looked up Scott McCarren the golfer and he was born in 1965. The list of Joseph's children was given in his obituary, and one was Scott A. MCarren of Carmel. Joseph died in 1997, so if Scott the golfer was his son Joseph must have been quite old when he was born, but I'm sure he's related, as Scott had a brother called Norman, and Cochran had a son called Norman. Can you help? Kath Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Cochran was my Grandfather David's brother. I believe he emmigrated from Scotland in the 1800s. He Married Annie McLeod who later died, and then married Rebecca Wilson. Cochran and Annie had 3 children that I know of, Norman, Joseph Alexander, and Dorothy. I think Joseph was known as Al, and married a Ruth W ?. They had sons, Joseph A. Jnr, Barry, Scott, and Norman. Would love to know anything about the family. I think Scott may be a golfer. We would have a common Great Grandfather, Joseph McCarron, who was married to Margaret Russell, and lived in Glasgow, Scotland, where I come from. Have lots of family history on the Scottish side, if anyone is interested. Kath Cox ( maiden surname, McCarren) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Based upon my belief that she died in Oakdale, he somehow did a search on cemetery records and found a May B. Wesselhoft buried at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery. With that as a possibility, he went to CA Vital Record Index and determined that her birth date was about right. I then posted a message on the Stanislaus website and another researcher posted May's obit. Although the obit was inconclusive, I requested a death certificate. On it, it states that May's maiden name was Head. It doesn't include her parents names, but I have requested the birth record and hope that it includes her father's name (as I already know her mother was Fanny Louise Donaldson.) Thus, I am 99.99% certain that May Wesselhoft was May (Head) Noland!!
