Her mothers name is listed as Joan -close. Do you by any chance have acces to marriage records as far back as 1940. Her mom and dad were married in CA (at least I think they were) and if I could find a record for Ernest Johnson and Joan [Richardson] then I would know I was on the right track. They don't show up in the Nevada marriage records for LasVegas, they didn't go back to Iowa so CA is almost a sure thing for their marriage. She is listed as a niece on Mattie's sister's obit in April of 1952. Because I find her nowhere else, it is possible that she remarried. However, I find her in the California death index with a death date of September 12, 1973. I sent a check to the state for her death certificate in August of 2006 but have received no response at all. Any help would be appreciated. I presume you must be referring to Cochran MCarron. This is very confusing. The Cochran I have been reseaching died in 1941 and was born in Scotland. He was my Grandfather's brother. However I do know that there was another Cochran living and working in Oakland around about the same time. I have always thought they might be related as My Gt Grandfather Joseph was born in Ireland, and I know he had a brother called David born 1847, and his father's name was Cochran. I believe that the grave in Oakland could be that of my Gt Grandfather's brothers, and that the Cochran I Have been researching was their nephew. I hope that makes sense. If I remember right someone post a request about information about a ancestor, who had died in Berkeley, before the University of California, was there but lived on that land, that became the University, and was buried on the family land.
