Take the next left (Duchow). The apartment building is on the left. Go through the glass double doors and the computer lab is on the right. Original email message below...... Looking for 10 people for a 'quick recruit' class beginning THIS Thursday the 8th of January in FOLSOM for 10 weeks from 9 to 12. The computer lab at Mercy-Folsom Villiage is in the process of upgrading to Windows NT so Windows 98 is out and we are in need of a class. Some of you from past Family History Classes have expressed a desire to learn how to create a web site. It's TIME! Bring in your family information and ancestral photos and together we will create. If you would like to be one of TEN for this 'hands on' HTML class PLEASE respond asap. If we do not have 10 people there on Thursday the class will not happen! We will create in class 'from scratch' a web site that can be uploaded to the Internet using HTML. This is SO FUN! DO THIS: get online and find one of your favorite web sites. RIGHT-CLICK anywhere on the page and then click on 'view source.' You will see the 'guts' of the web page you are currently viewing. Look for key words like 'background color= blue.' This is an example of how easy it is to create the background color for your web page. Do not be discouraged when you see lots of phrases you don't understand. HTML is like a language of sorts. We will learn to 'speak' the basics and then add a few 'bells and whistles' in this ten week course. We will type in the 'text' and then save it as HTML. The page appears like MAGIC. We will be using a text book called 'Teach Yourself HTML Visually.' The book actually shows pictures of each computer screen shot showing you where to click and what to do. Hardly any words in the book; just lots of pictures (my favorite way to learn). At the end of the first 3 hour session each one of you will have created your own 'Web Page' with unique font, background color, and graphics. Just think what we can do with the other 27 hours!!! Please let me know if you can attend (yes, I am having fun). Susan Jackman
