PLACER COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY PO BOX 7385, AUBURN, CA 95604 (530) 887-2646 www.pcgenes.com/pcgs.html PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - October 22, 2004 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY TO MEET IN AUBURN The Placer County Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7PM, Thursday, October 28th, in the Beecher Room of the Auburn-Placer County Library, 350 Nevada Street in Auburn. The meeting is free and open to the public. The program speaker this month will be Jennifer Hansen. Her topic is "Danish Research." She will discuss how to get started by using U. S. records, linking patterns, and various type of records, i.e., Church, census, probate and military. Ms. Hansen graduated from BYU with a degree in Family History and Genealogy, and in 1999 she received her genealogy accreditation in Danish research from the Family History Library. She has worked as a full-time professional researcher and worked for Ancestry.com as an acquisitions genealogist. The Placer County Genealogical Society has a membership of over 200 that is made up of individuals and families that have historical and genealogical interests. The group holds a general meeting at the Auburn library site on the fourth Thursday of each month from 7-9PM, and features a program speaker on various genealogical subjects. The group also offers two specialty day groups that meet from 10AM to noon. One, that studies various topics of member interest, meets at the library the second Monday of each month except July, August and December. The other, the Family Tree Maker User Group, reviews genealogy computer program subjects on the second Thursday of the month, and meets at the Latter Day Saints Church, 1255 Bell Road, in Auburn.
