    3. Sacramento German Genealogy Society P. O. Box 660061 Sacramento CA 95866-0081 OK FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Upcoming events of the Sacramento German Genealogy Society The next meeting of the Sacramento German Genealogy Society will be on Tuesday, April 27, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church on Lusk Drive at St. Mark’s Way in Sacramento. Speakers Suzanne Hanson and Emily Gann will present “Hidden Treasures for Genealogists: German Lutheran Church Records in the United States.” These two talented students at Brigham Young University are engaged in a huge project soon to benefit German family historians. They will demonstrate how the results of this project will help in the identification of immigrant hometowns in Germany. On Tuesday, May 18, SGGS will hold an evening meeting planned to coincide with the National Genealogical Society’s Conference, which will be held in Sacramento May 19 through 22. This special meeting will be held in the Gardenia Room at Sacramento’s Sheraton Grand Hotel. Come by 6:30 p.m. to socialize. The program will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will feature a presentation by a German research specialist from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, a presentation on “The Eleven Commandments for Conducting German Family History Research” and much more. SGGS will also sponsor a luncheon during the NGS Conference, on Wednesday, May 19, which must be signed up for through the NGS, although those attending only the luncheon do not have to register for the NGS Conference. The luncheon speaker will be Marion Wolfert, one of SGGS’s most delightful and informative speakers. Entrance to the SGGS monthly meetings is free and visitors are welcome. Guests and members are encouraged to arrive for the meeting a half-hour early, to allow themselves time to browse the society’s informational tables, which feature German genealogy-related books for sale, pedigree charts and other genealogical aids, German reference and library tools and back issues of the society’s quarterly “Der Blumenbaum.” And there are always mentors in attendance who share your interests and are eagerly awaiting a chance to discuss German genealogy, answer your questions and compare notes on research. If you have questions about the society, e-mail President Charles V. Knuthson at cknuthson@surewest.net or call him at (916) 782-5704 or contact the society’s website at www.SacGerGenSoc.org.
