The San Luis Obispo Genealogy Society is hosting a conference on Saturday, May 5, 2005. The society has asked if we want to particiapte, and if so, in what way? As I see it, our options are: 1) Not participate 2) Send 200 copies of our brochures (who is the keeper of our brochures anyway?) 3) Send an item that they can use in the raffle 4) Buy an ad in their syllabus (rates are very reasonable, in my humble opinion) 5) Any combination of 2, 3 and 4. The San Luis Obispo County (California) Genealogical Society http://home.kcbx.net/~slogen/ will be hosting its annual seminar on Saturday, March 5, 2005. For the previous five years, we have averaged over 200 attendees at this event, drawing participants from all over California and occasionally from out of state (it IS very pleasant here in the winter J). Theme this year is Digital Resources and DNA Technology. Speakers include Max Blankfeld from FamilyTreeDNA, Leland Meitzler from Heritage Quest, and Geoff Rasmussen from Legacy Family Tree. Topics for beginning to advanced family historians include "Census Online," "Digital Imaging," "DNA in Genealogy Research," "Newspapers and Genealogy," and "Researching Your Big City Ancestors." [Seminar schedule: http://home.kcbx.net/~slogen/sem05.htm; Seminar registration: http://home.kcbx.net/~slogen/reg05.htm] We offer your firm or organization the opportunity to reach California Central Coast family historians by: (1) Donating a prize for our raffle drawing.
