PLACER COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY PO BOX 7385 AUBURN, CA 95604 (530) 887-2646 www.pcgs.pcgenes.com PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - November 15, 2005 GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY TO MEET IN AUBURN The Placer County Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7PM, Monday, November 21st, in the Beecher Room of the Placer County Library, 350 Nevada Street in Auburn. It should be noted that this is a different day of the week than the group usually meets. The meeting is free and open to the public. The November meeting each year is the Society's annual meeting month. The program theme will be on "Genealogy Detective: How I Debunked the Family Legend." Several members will share their legends and how their research found them to be untrue, and how they discovered the truth. Also on the agenda will be the election of officers for 2006. The Placer County Genealogical Society has a membership of over 200 that is made up of individuals and families that have historical and genealogical interests. The group holds a general meeting at the Auburn library site on the fourth Thursday of each month from 7-9PM, and features a program speaker on various genealogical subjects. Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the meeting in November is the prior Monday. No meeting is held in December. The group also offers two specialty day groups that meet from 10AM to noon. One, that studies various topics of member interest, meets at the library the second Monday of each month except July, August and December. The other, the Family Tree Maker User Group, reviews genealogy computer program subjects on the second Thursday of the month, and meets at the Latter Day Saints Church, 1255 Bell Road, in Auburn. All meetings are open members and non-members alike.
