Four students are needed for the Standards of Genealogy class sponsored by Adult Education at the new computer lab in Rancho Cordova. This is a 7 week class built into a 10 week schedule so if you missed the first class (there was no class last week) and would still like to participate PLEASE come on Thursday at 10 am. The extra 3 weeks give us ample time to review the first class this coming Thursday. The address is 10850 Gadsten Way. Take 50 to Sunrise and exit toward Fair Oaks. Take a left at the first light which is Zinfandel. Turn left at the first stop sign which is Gadsten. You will see the school on the left. Park on the right under the trees. The class room will be straight ahead and labeled C-2. Some of my students have expressed concern that the description of this class scares many away. THIS CLASS IS SO FUN! It teaches DISCIPLINE and EXACTNESS in recording family information for future generations reminding us of simple things like putting your name and address on every report you create, identifying whether there are multiple pages, proper documentation, gathering and putting together circumstantial evidence, etc. COME and join us.bring a friend. Details of the class instruction follow: BCG Standards Class In the past I have offered a Family History Report Writing Class where we use for our text the Board of Certified Genealogists Standards Manual. This class is to the family historian what a music theory class is to the Musician. We learn how to evaluate genealogical evidence and use it to write a thorough report for our family/clients/peers showing proof of relationships through circumstantial and other evidence using the Board of Certified Genealogists Standards Manual. Just how much evidence is needed to prove a relationship? How do we know when we have done a thorough search? How can we write a report reflecting our findings? Come and learn!!!
