Sacramento Jewish Genealogy Society Meeting -- Monday, April 18, 7 p.m Albert Einstein Residence Center, 1935 Wright St. (off Wyda Way), Sacramento "No Longer Hidden -- the Converso Jews." Jason Lindo will tell the story of the Conversos, Spanish and Portuguese Jews forced to convert to Christianity during the Inquisition. Hundreds of Conversos, or Hidden Jews, in the U.S., Mexico, South America and Europe are now returning to Judaisam, some after more than 500 years of separation from the religion. Lindo is a descendant of Portuguese Conversos who converted to Judaism eight years ago. He'll discuss the traditions, customs, family names and geographic areas relating to the Converso Jews.
