    3. Students of Family History, Regarding the possible Genealogy Standards class for Winter Semester in Rancho Cordova at the Adult Ed Computer Lab: I have only one sign up for the web site class offered on Thursday 10-12 and beginning 5 January. The odds of 11 more people registering for this class by next week are 'slim' to say the least!! This means the Genealogy Standards Class (formerly Family History Report Writing) will most likely begin on 5 January. I will send out a confirmation on Tuesday of next week when the office opens. Students can register the first day of class. In the mean time, I need to build a class on a first come, first serve basis. To get your name on the list, please respond to this email to confirm that you will be attending. THANKS! Below find class details previously posted to this mailing list: Fellow Researchers, In the past I have offered a Family History Report Writing Class where we use for our text the Board of Certified Genealogists Standards Manual. This is a FUN class-everyone learns so much, including me! I would like to gather a group of 12-20 interested students on a 'stand-by' basis who would like to take the course. There is a good chance that one of my five classes in January will not fly, and in that case, I would email each interested student for this course. Each of you would have one week notice of the course if it does go. The class would probably begin on Thursday 12 January-one week after the other classes begin---and would run for 9-10 weeks from 10 am-12 pm. This class is to the family historian what a music theory class is to the Musician. We learn how to evaluate genealogical evidence and use it to write a thorough report for our family/clients/peers showing proof of relationships through circumstantial and other evidence using the Board of Certified Genealogists Standards Manual. Just how much evidence is needed to prove a relationship? How do we know when we have done a thorough search? How can we write a report reflecting our findings? Come and learn!!! Class content includes: Project Definition Elements of a Report Evidence Evaluation Standards Genealogical Proof Standard Proof Summaries Limited Project Client Report Abstracts/Extracts/ Summaries/Transcriptions Nutshells or Snapshots/Quotations Review and Presentation of Reports PLEASE REPLY if you are interested in this class so I can save your spot. Registration moneys will be collected the first day of class!! Susan Jackman
