Jackman Bring in your data and we'll work together to get your own family information imported into this easy to use family history database. Learn how to document sources, add ancestral photos, use to-do-lists and create reports. This class is for those who are new to family history software, those who are changing over to Roots Magic from another software, or those who have used the program but would like some one-on-one help. Linda Wood is going to honor us with a demonstration of clown make-up, and she will play her musical accordian. Visitors are welcome. There will be no classes the following week for Easter vacation. (March 21 thru 25} Mary Lou Shaw's Genealogy Spring Weekly Classes will resume Wednesday 1-3PM, March 30th.at the Cordova Senior Center, 3480 Routier Rd.,. Sacramento, 95827. There are some peppy programs getting lined up for the Spring Quarter, such as "How To Do A Video Family History That Will Knock Your Socks Off", by Ann Kerr, from the Lodi Family History Center. Also a presentation about SCANNING, by Ann Kerr. We are looking forward to seeing the 50th Wedding Video of Dick and Gloria Lamey. Bob Crabtree has an excellent photography presentation of Military Photos. The cost is $10 for the whole term. Enrollment is on-going. Enroll in Class.

She’ll discuss the different types of records, the challenge of finding them and ways to make them pay off in your research. This is a great meeting for beginners as well as genealogy veterans, who are sure to learn something new as well. Join us on Sunday, March 20, 10 a.m. Our growing genealogy library will be available for your use before and after the meeting. And if anyone has an old notebook computer they’re willing to donate to us, it would be used with scanning software to help us keep track of our volumes. PLACER COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY PO BOX 7385, AUBURN, CA 95604 (530) 887-2646 www.pcgenes.com/pcgs.html PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - March 11, 2005 GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY TO MEET IN AUBURN The Placer County Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7PM, Thursday, March 24th, in the Beecher Room of the Placer County Library located at 350 Nevada Street in Auburn. The meeting is free and open to the public. The program speaker this month will be Bruce Bollinger, with the title of his presentation, "Genealogical Surprises: Anti-Nazi Resistance in WWII Belgium." Bollinger was the Nevada County Clerk-Recorder from 1980-1998, and was the district manager for eight Northern California counties with the U.S. Census Bureau for the 1980 census. He has also held various positions in the political area throughout most of his career. His genealogical interests are Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. His current concentration is on the service in the Resistance of his great uncle in Belgium in WWII and the related experiences of an American flier who was shot down there in November 1943. The Placer County Genealogical Society has a membership of about 200 that is made up of individuals and families that have historical and genealogical interests. The group holds a general meeting at the Auburn library site on the fourth Thursday of each month from 7-9PM, and features a program speaker on various genealogical subjects. The group also offers two specialty day groups that meet from 10AM to noon. One, the Day Study Group, studies various topics of member interest and meets at the library the second Monday of each month except July, August and December. The other, the Family Tree Maker User Group, reviews genealogy computer program subjects on the second Thursday of the month, and meets at the Latter Day Saints Church, 1255 Bell Road, in Auburn. The Society maintains a web site at "www.pcgs.pcgenes.com" where details of these meetings can be found as well as other research references and announcements.
