    1. War Memorials - Bancroft and Belleville and Trenton
    2. Dean Black
    3. I need help from kind folks in Bancroft-Belleville-Trenton areas. I am trying to find out if my ancestor's name is on a war memorial that might be located in or near to any of these three villages. Robert Black was born on 15 November 1893, probably near Palmerston, in Oro Township. He was the son of Robert J. Black and Mary Caldwell who by 1900 were living in the dispersed rural communities of Turriff and L'Amable, just south of Bancroft. The senior Robert J. Black died in November 1927, while his wife Mary died in 1949. The younger Robert Black fought during the First World War and died when their hospital ship either hit a mine in the English Channel, or was torpedoed. If kind souls might confirm whether or not my ancestor's name "Robert Black" appears on war memorials in any of the three communities identified I would be very grateful. Thank you. Dean C.
