    3. Dear List Members: 99% of the time I really enjoy administrating this list, but now I am wondering if it is time to step down and allow someone else to run it. It is not an easy job trying to be fair to people ,making sure everyone has a equal chance to state his or her opinion. As I am not perfect . I can not be expected to make choices that make everyone happy. I firmly believe the focus of this mailing list to cemeteries and related issues. If it is the consensus of the members of this list is , that it is time for a change in the management of this list , then I will ask Rootsweb.com to find a new person to run this list. I have put my heart and soul into this mailing list, but I refuse to lose friends over it . And that is what is happening. Respectfully Sheila List Mom

    3. Sheila - It is unfortunate that you are losing friends over this mailing list. Perhaps they are not really friends. I believe that you have been doing an exemplary job. All too often people get into subjects as a side issue and end up with threads that are so off topic that there is no resemblance to the original nature of the list. They need someone to bring them back and that is the job of the list administrator. Many times gentle reminders do not suffice because there is always someone who just wants to add their two cents worth or last thoughts. At times like this it is necessary to 'get tough'. You had to do that in this situation. Personally I admire the job that you and all list administrators do. I don't think I could do it myself. If I'm not mistaken you were central in getting this list up and running and I would hate to see you leave it because some were upset when they couldn't get the message the first time. Please stick around. 3. Speaking as a list admin myself: one of my responsibilities to my lists is to make sure the discussions don't go completely off-topic. And while the discussion of genealogy & medical histories is a perfectly valid discussion, I really don't see what it has to do with Ontario cemeteries. Perhaps someone with an interest in the topic would like to start a separate list for it? (Unless there already is one, I haven't checked.) In other words, Sheila -- no, it's not time for a new admin.
