This is a brief outline of what is expected of a mailing list administrator. You are required to: · Maintain a current contact address on your List Tools or utility page. · Subscribe to your list and monitor the posts. · Determine the guidelines for your list. · Remove bad addresses, which cause bounce notices. · Read and comply with RootsWeb's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). You are encouraged to: · Prompt discussions on your list when it is in a lull. · Promote your list and encourage new subscribers. · Assist users when necessary or possible. · Intervene to resolve problems or disputes that are detrimental to your list. · Gateway your list with allied message boards. You may not: · Change the overall focus/topic of the list. For example, you may not change a list that focuses on a given surname to exclude all except those from a specific lineage or region. You would need to request a second list with those restrictions if such was your goal. · Close your list by unsubscribing everyone, or by refusing to allow anyone to subscribe. · Archive your list anywhere other than RootsWeb without prior permission. ______________________________________ GUIDELINES (RULES): of this list. These rules where sent when you joined. * DO NOT impose any other rules or conditions, expressed or implied elsewhere, upon this list. Rules of other forums may not necessarily apply here. Do not try to regulate this list. If you do not like the way someone formats their queries or responses, or the content of their subject titles, take it up with the listowner[ shill@wightman.ca ], NOT in the list. The list is for strictly about Cemeteries . *This list is for the discussion of Cemeteries primarily regarding those located in the province of ONTARIO and related issues. Discussion of cemeteries, helpful web sites, etc. as relates to CEMETERIES located in Ontario is encouraged. * DO NOT post virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, etc. For information on virus hoaxes and urban legends see http://www.cyndislist.com/internet.htm. But, feel free to post your next Historical, Genealogy meeting or an annual Cemetery Decoration Service. If in doubt please contact the list administrator. *I strongly urge subscribers to read the List Admin notices when they come out. The onus is on each subscriber to read those notices and follow them. * Please DO NOT send file attachments (messages with files appended) to the list. If you have a file you would like to share with the members, announce what you have to offer, then send the file only to those who request it, via private email. * NO rude comments or flaming in the list! No discussion of flaming in the list. For definitions of flaming and related information see http://www.matisse.net/files/glossary.html#F I WILL UNSUBSCRIBE THE OFFENDER RIGHT AWAY!!! * Try to keep quoting to a minimum. "Quoting" is repeating text of the message you are replying to. Some quoting is necessary to remind other readers what the thread is about but do try to use good judgment. Quoting the previous writer's signature block or surname list is totally unnecessary. * Listing Cemeteries are okay but please try to limit them to say, half a dozen names. Any more than that and many people just won't read them. Try keeping several small lists and rotate them with each succeeding message. __________________________________________________________________________ Lastly, for those people who insist on stirring up things, I will unsubscribe them immediately without a warning. Now, I will sit on the sidelines as the rest is up to you. Sheila
