    3. Hello All; Discover Canada's notorious family, the Black Donnelly's, who were massacred February 4th, 1880 by a vigilante committee. The following web sites tell the whole story and there are pictures of the family and of the grave stones. http://www.donnellys.com/ http://www.cyg.net/~miller/donnelly.htm http://www.donnellys.com/Surname.html Loyally, Chuck ----- Original Message ----- From: <gmt.bc@shaw.ca> To: <CA-ONT-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, November 25, 2004 1:10 PM Subject: Donnelly > Thanks to Brian for his latest editions. > Just a note as I looked through his scans for > St. Patrick's, Church Cemetery, Biddulph, Ontario > There are 5 Donnelly's all listed as died Feb 4, 1880. > All buried on Feb 7, 1880, James Donnelly, John Donnelly, > Thomas Donnelly, Judith Donnelly and Bridget Donnelly. > I am posting this here as it would appear that something happened > and someone may be looking for a missing family.

    2. Thanks Louise, I realized that it was them after posting. Brian also has the tombstone transcriptions in another section farther down on his Ancestors at rest web site. Full birth dates and death dates for the whole family including those that survived the massacre and died in later years. 1. Off Topic: not all websites are FREE
    2. GEN
    3. I bet everyone already knows that some websites offering cemetery listing and photos are not always "Free" as you are lead to believe. Some web pages entice you by giving you a little bit of information, then if you want to know more suddenly you must get a membership to find out the rest. Just remember there are a lot of FREE web pages out in cyper space offering information with no hidden cost. "let the web surfer beware" are wise words to live by. At "Gateway to Ontario Cemeteries " http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~silentguardians/index.htm we do offer FREE lookups and to the best of our knowledge links to FREE off site webpages. A disclaimer is placed on each page of our website advises that the ads at the top and bottom in no way are assosciated with "Gateway to Ontnario Cemeteries ( also known as " Ontario Cemeteries Resources") If you are looking for a cemetery lookup your first choice should be " Gateway to Ontario Cemeteries" were it is voluneteers who offer their services for FREE to anyone in need of a lookup. Again our "sister webpage" can be founded at http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~silentguardians/index.htm If you by chance have cemetery you have information on and would like to do a lookup and it is not already listed please think of volunteering to help someone else find a missing loved one. Contact either Janet Jones janet-jones@sympatico.ca or myself shill@wightman.ca We also support the hard work of the Ontario Vital Statistics Project which brings free Births, Marriages and Death records. It can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~onvsr/ A big thank-you to STEVE, HEATHER & MARY for all their hard work and to those who donated their time sharing records with this wonderful website. 3. Thank you for this info. I appreciate the several instances where I have been able to receive help and info from your site researchers. Some sites seem to be 'sneak-through' sites attaching to such as yours, yesterday I found one which was actually a cover for Ancestry.com. These can easily trap the unwary into unecessary spending for little or no information. Thanks again. 3. Looking for ideas on how best to locate where Duncan CUMMING 's was buried. He came from Scotland abt 1820 and settled in Cramahe area until he died which I believe was in 1850. I think I found his obit in the Port Hope Wander, March 28 1850 . He was a Baptist and may have been a minister in his later years. Some of his children are buried in Salem Cemetery but I can not find where he or his wife Flora(Cameron) Cumming was buried. Any thoughts or suggestions for someone that lives quite a ways away would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely Lara Cummings Martin

    3. Hi All. The most likely church and cemetery for the Catholic folks on the Burway Line would be church i n Arthur and then buried in the Catholic cemetery at Arthur. You come to it before Greenfield on #9. They are connected by a driveway. There may not even be a sign at their entrance from No 9, I never noticed. I doubt if it would be listed under Greenfield though. Listed in the telephone Directory is Sacred Heart Church Kenilworth 519 - 848-3216. The cemetery is beside the church For Arthur I only see St Johns Church, that might be Catholic 519-848-2108. They are the only catholic churches for that whole area, as far as I know, always have been. Jean F. ><And to Jean F. the Catholic Church at Kenilworth on Hwy 6, would that be >St. Peter's? (formerly I believe, St. Gregory's?)..if it is, I'm still >waiting for information from them. They allowed the FHC to film records from >1858-1875 and I was lucky to find one baptismal and 6 births!> > > > >> >> > > > > >

    3. A search engine has been added to the Archives: Clifford & Area. Here is the website http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~clifford/ By the way, the music "lostinlove" is only hear on the homepage ( which I really like) can be stilled if you turn off your speakers or down the volume. Photos and information are welcomed within the area covered. This site also has photos and links to local cemeteries that I have photographed. In all about 65 cemeteries. The link is "Four Township Cemeteries Photos" The above site still has some "bugs " in it and will be fixed as soon as possible. As of this morning more than 540 people have visited the site since yesterday.......thank-you I should add that various groups have helped in making this webpage possible. Don't forget to sign the guestbook. Thanks Sheila shill@wightman.ca P.S. I am still looking for photos of St . Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery in Mildmay as well as the Presbyterian Cemetery outside of Mildmay. If you have any and would like to share them please contact me. Do NOT send me any photos without letting me know first. OK?
