    1. LIST MOM
    2. Ellen Murray
    3. Not many of you have had the opportunity to meet our List Mom, but lucky for me I have. She not only gave me a personal tour through the cemeteries to help me find some of my ancestors, she invited me back to her home and gave me carte blanche with her records. Records that she obviously has spent years collecting. Sheila is not only a busy Lady but a very kind and conscientious Lady. I don’t want to keep this line of thought going but we need her and appreciate her. There is the ONTARIO Mailing List, which I believe could be used for off topic subjects. Would this not be better? Now that I have said my 2 cents worth am going back to “Guardian Angels” site. Ellen -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 3. Prospect cemetery is in the north west portion of Toronto. It's a very old cemetery. The last time I was there, in the early 1990's, nothing was microfilmed, we had to look through the old registers. The people there were very helpful in giving us space and bringing the registers. Unfortuately, I live east of Toronto a fair distance from this cemetery. Perhaps you'll find someone closer. Is this right? If I am on the correct path, is there anyone in the Toronto area going there anytime soon that could or would do a lookup or more? I would gladly pay your expenses. The lady at Prospect did give me a few names of my family that was there, and a rough idea of where they were located, but some stones are now underground, and I'm sure there would be dates that I'm looking for on the records. She gave me confirmation of a couple names but did state there were a bunch more, and I would almost bet they are all related. Thank you for your time, Chris N

    3. Most of the lists I subscribe to allow off topic posts but require that they identify themselves as OT in the subject line. Seems to work well. Those who want to pursue off topic subjects can do so, those that don't just don't open them. 2. Janice Anderson
    3. Dear Lois, When you can, weather permitting, I would indeed appreciate any photos you can get, especially for MARGARET, HUGH and CAROLINE LaPORTE. Caroline and Hugh were the children of Margaret. To date I have no record if or who they may have married and do not have the given name of their father although it would seem that he should be interned with or near his wife Margaret. At this time I do not know of anyone living in that area who may have any records for this part of the family. Should you find my family there, could you please send me the mailing address of the cemeteries in that area. Will no doubt need that information in the future. The LaPorte and Quinn families lived in Morrisburg, Dundas County and Prescott, Grenville County. Then many moved to Oswego, Syracuse and Norwich, New York. Your reply and efforts are most appreciated. If there is any cost involved, please let me know so I may mail payment to you. Jan A. in Arizona USA camelot2@citlink.net

    1. QUINN & LaPORTE at SANDY HILL CEMETERY
    2. Janice Anderson
    3. Dear Fraser, Thank you. Yes, I would very much appreciate any photos you are able to take at Sandy Hill Cemetery in Prescott. The 2 ancestors I am sure are there are: HUGH QUINN 1865-1934 wife MARY TURNBULL 12-6-1878 - 1929 FREDERICK LaPORTE 10-31-1884 - 1995 wife ETHEL MARY LONG 1890-1949 As far as I can determine, the parents of Hugh Quinn are BARNARD QUINN & SUSANNAH (Annie) McDEAD (McDade). They were both born in Ireland and died after 1901. Hugh was the brother to my gr. grandfather MATTHEW QUINN born abt. 1858 and died between 1907 & 1943. I have completely lost track of Matthew. The parents of Frederick LaPorte were LEWIS LaPORTE and SUSAN McCARTEN. Frederick was the nephew of my gr. gr. grandmother Eliza LaPorte. At this point in time I do not know for sure of any others. Yes, I have gone through the leedsandgrenvillegenealogy site. That is where I found many names. Can you send me the mailing address of both the Sandy Hill Cemetery and the Catholic Cemetery. Our Quinns and LaPortes were all Catholic. I would like these for our records and may need them some time in the future in searching other members. Please use this as my request or authority for whatever records or photos you can obtain. Please let me know of any cost involved so I may send off payment to you. Your time and efforts are most appreciated. Jan A. in Arizona, USA camelot2@citlink.net
