    3. I have seen death registration that are blank except for a date of death and the registration signature. It could also be that the informant did not understand the questions the registrar was asking them. Actually I think I might have seen them on some slightly earlier, but I KNOW they are sometimes not on forms much later. I suppose it depended on whether the local registrar was using the most current forms, or older ones, but often I have seen the place for parents names simply left blank. A few years ago I thought I was going to get the names of a greatgreat grandmother's parents from the death registration for her twin sister who died in 1913. When the film came in, imagine my disappointment when the names were not on it! It could also be that the informant registering the death didn't know, but I also believe that some local registrars simply didn't bother about that particular piece of information - when you see several registrations together, from the same registrar, without the parents names that is the most logical conclusion. I have in front of me a death registration I copied at the local FHC Tuesday of this week - it is for a death in 1917 and the names of the parents were not included. My files contain 3,500 copies of birth, marriage and death registrations - 850 are deaths. 3. Just for everyones information I'll give a short bit on what is available for Ontario. Births 1869-1906, Marriages 1869-1921 and Deaths 1869-1931, if I remember correctly, 1907 is the first year they ask for a persons parents names and birthplaces on the death registration. There are indexes to the above vital statistics, you find the person you are looking for, make note of the registration number and year in which the event was registered, then go to another book to find out what reel number that particular registration is on. All registration films are available through your local library on inter library loan, in Canada. Elsewhere the films can be ordered in to your local Family History Library (LDS). Any dates after the above have to be ordered, check the Ontario Archives site http://www.archives.gov.on.ca on how to do that. Every year another year is released, so this year we will get births for 1907, deaths for 1932 and marriages for 1922. I hope I have explained this so everyone can understand. 3. At Bill Martin's site http://my.tbaytel.net/bmartin/index2.htm, you will find very helpful information and instructions on obtaining copies of BMD registrations. Have a look around his site - great info. There are microfilms with early death registrations 1869-1931 that can be borrowed through Inter Library Loan from the Archives of Ontario site http://www.archives.gov.on.ca/english/index.html. Click on Genealogy Research and follow the links. Some local Family History Centres have the index films which would cut out one step in the process. 3. In my one & only foray into obtaining a death certificate in Ontario, I recall the following. Cost- approx $25.00 Information- date of death,-place of death, if female, maiden name- father's name. There are 2 forms of certificates. The "short" one is easily obtained. The "long" form, which provides details of the cause of death can only be obtained if permission is given by the closest living next-of-kin. In my case, I was it so I just certified that as fact.Took about 3 weeks to arrive. All details should be on the website. 3. Ontario is definitely not as liberal as BC with respect to issuing copies pf death certificates. A few years ago I applied to get my gr. grandmother's death certificate. At the ripe old age of 50 I had to get a note from my 75 year old father to obtain the certificate for a lady who died in her 80's about 55 years ago. The first time I ever had to get a note from my father!! Cheers! Pat --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). 2. Fay Bennett
    3. Dear Listers I am hoping that you will be able to help me with my query as I have, in the past, written to the Cemeteries Division at London City Hall, Ontario but have received no reply. I am trying to trace the burial place of my great, great grandmother who died in London, Ontario on 10 March 1875. Her name was Charlotte Elizabeth BAILEY, wife of Solomon BAILEY from England. I believe that she may have been buried in the Wesleyan Methodist's Cemetery, which was known as Salter's Grove. A fellow genealogist in Ontario made a visit to the local Family History Society for me and found out that the cemetery no longer exists - it was destroyed to make way for a parking lot! According to the information in the record book there were "no burial records found" for Salter's Grove. However, the historian on duty said that, by law, City Hall has to make a note of all the persons buried in the cemetery before the graveyard is demolished. I wonder whether anyone would know if a list of people buried in Salter's Grove exists. Of course, she may have been buried elsewhere and for this reason I would be grateful if you could tell me of any other likely Methodist cemeteries in and around London, Ontario. I would be grateful for any help or advice, no matter how small. Many thanks. Fay Bennett Cambridge, England

    3. Dear List Members: To say that I am upset over the lack of being able to access the website would be an understatement. I am really sorry, for all the people who went to the website expecting to view it; only to see the message "Temporarily Unavailable The Tripod page you are trying to reach has exceeded its bandwith limit. It will be available again in a few hours. " I am not pleased with Tripod actions. z:-^( < very big frown) As soon as possible this site will be transfered to a much friendly server. { oh, the good news is, we now have 409 members with 7 of them not a valid e-mail address. Please make sure your e-mail address is correct.} Sheila
