He was one of the early pioneers of the county. He was born in OH 10 Oct 1833, removed to Michigan with his parents at an early age and came to CA in 1854, setling at Cold Springs, a thriving minng town at that time. He did some logging and finally devoted his time to farming and stock raising. He is survived by six children, his wife died 12 Mar 1893. The remaing members of the family are, Mrs. John SWEENEY, Mrs. Thomas HICKS, Dan J., George I., Samuel F. and John C. AKIN, all of this county. He was a member of the Morning Star Lodge #20 I.O.O.F. of this city.
