McKenzie Article Text: The funeral of Archibald McKENZIE, who died last Sunday, will be held at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. STRAIN, with whom he has been living for the last twelve or thirteen months. Services will be held there at 2 p.m. today, and thence the remains will be taken on the 3:15 train to Santa Cruz where they will be interred in the Odd Fellows Cemetery alongside those of his wife. The deceased was born in 1830 in Nova Scotia. While yet a boy he went to Maine where he remained four or five years, and then left in 1852 for California, coming round the Horn. At first he went to the mines on the America river, then he proceeded to Santa Cruz in 1860 and married and in that city he lived until 1877, when he went to Oakland, Oregon, to live and there he stayed until he came to Martinez somewhat over a year ago. A telegram has been received from his son Fred N. McKENZIE of Grangville, Idaho, that he would be here Tuesday night, and he, with the STRAIN family, will accompany the remains to Santa Cruz, where the HARMON'S have made the necessary arrangements for interment. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ CA-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
