SHARP of Susanville, Sgt. Howard E. SHARP, 28, was killed in action on 1 Apr 1944 over Germany. He had previously been reported missing in action. Sgt. SHARP was armored gunner on a Flying Fortress out of England, Prior to America's entry into the war, he served in the Air Corps at Hamilton Field and Baltimore and was a licensed government mechanic. He graduated fro mair school in Dallas, TX but left the Army to work for Douglas Airport and Moore Shipyards. Shortly after Pearl Harbor, SHARP re-enlisted in the Army Air Corps as gunner instructor, a post he filled until last November when he was sent overses. He is survived by his wife, Marie SHARP of Oakland, CA; brother Claude of Johnstonville; sisters, Mrs. G.H.
