Mrs. KAHN was the wife of Joseph KAHN, formerly a resident of Stockton. INFORMATION WANTED, of Maria BRADY, who worked at the Insane Asylum in 1857. Herself or friends can hear of something to her advantage by applying to this office. INFORMATION WANTED, respecting William GREGG, once an auctioneer on Sansome street, San Francisco, and who owned property at Knight's Ferry, Stanislaus river. It has been reported that he was shot by an Indian on Red river. [rest cut off] ADMITTED to PRACTICE -- Henry H. SWAN, a young gentleman of this city, was on Saturday admitted to the Bar by Hon. J.H. McKUNE, Judge of the District Court. STRANGE DOINGS on LAKE TAHOE -- The Placerville 'Courier' of Dec. 1st records the following strange sight on the great lake of the mountains: About 2 months since, during the month of Sept., a singular and curious phenomenon occurred on Lake Tahoe, nearly abreast of A.H. SAXTON's sawmill. The lake at the time was calm and quiet, when suddenly the water boiled and bubbled up without any apparent cause. The water arose in a conical form some 5 or 6 feet in height, and in a circle of some 8 or 10 feet, then subsiding formed a whirlpool, drawing everything within its vortex. On the succeeding day the same singular occurrence took place, and was witnessed by a number of persons employed about the mill. After the commotion had subsided on the 2nd day, one of the men employed on the lake shore took a small boat and rowed out to the spot that had been in such a ferment, who, upon placing his hands in the water, found that it was very warm. At the place where this occurred there is a! deep hole which has been sounded to a depth of 75 or 80 feet; outside of this indentation of the bottom of the lake the depth of water is only 30 or 40 feet. 2 years and more ago, this hole was noted as an excellent fishing place, but for the past 2 years no fish have been taken there. Those familiar with this portion of the lake think it is the crater of an extinct volcano. >>TUESDAY, 11 DEC 1866>WEDNESDAY, 12 DEC 1866FRIDAY, 14 DEC 1866>SATURDAY, 15 DEC 1866

Trowbridge died at the home of his parents near Fowler, Cal., September 12, 1891. He was born at Swan Creek, O., July 1, 1876, and had, therefore, but recently passed his fifteenth birthday. He was a warm-hearted, generous boy, remarkably bright and of more than ordinary intelligence for one so young. The grief of the household at such a loss as this none but the experienced can know. Frank had been baptized in the Episcopal church and was, at the time of his death, a member of the young men's Bible class in the Presbyterian Sabbath school. He was buried on Monday morning, September 14, from the Presbyterian church, where the Episcopal burial service was read by the pastor and so appropriate and very touching service of song was rendered. Skillful hands, moved by loving hearts, gracefully decorated the casked with flowers, and the body of the departed was tenderly borne to its grave by the comrades of his life. His parents, D. S. Trowbridge and Mrs. M. E. Trowbridge, and their only surviving son, M. Dwight Trowbridge, are among the most highly esteemed members of the community and their sorrow is shared by many friends.
