HANSON; the ball entered near the right side, passing through the body. NEW COPPER DISCOVERY -- Messrs. MARKS and SHAFER have recently made some excellent copper discoveries in their claim, known as the “Comet,” on Gopher Creek, and about half a mile below the well known HUGH’s claim. TONE DELIVERED UP TO HIS BONDSMEN -- A man named Charles BISHOP, who was under a charge of arson in Sacramento, and had given bonds to appear for trial, left that county some time since for parts unknown, whereupon his bondsmen kept a sharp look-out for him, and Officer McINTOSH of that city recently getting upon BISHOP’s trail, tracked him to a place 10 miles above Visalia, in Tulare county and arrested him. He was yesterday brought to this city in charge of the officer and will be taken to Sacramento tomorrow. ENLISTING -- Captain STEUART (not STEWART, as commonly written), who is raising a company of Infantry in Calaveras, has procured about 40. The company is said to be rapidly filling up. The number will, in all likelihood, soon be complete. Captain STEUART is an old and experienced officer. He is a Scotchman by birth; has been an officer in the American army during the war with Mexico. He was severely wounded in Mexico. Some of his present company are men who were with him in Mexico, who bear testimony to his competency as an officer, and his bravery as a soldier. LIKELY to RECOVER -- Joseph KNEEDLER, the man who was so badly hurt and had his eyes nearly ruined by the premature explosion of a blast in a shaft near Shafer’s store, a week ago, is said to be rapidly recovering his sight, under the medical treatment of Dr. MARTIN, of Copperopolis.
