Mrs. BARSTOW fell a few days ago and is suffering from concussion of the brain. Mr. and Mrs. BARSTOW were married in Barnard, Vermont in 1854 and came to California by the Isthmus in 1867, settling in Oakland. Mr. BARSTOW was mayor of Oakland for one term and also served as a member of the City Council. WALLACE of Philmath, Oregon in a letter to Secretary Dan DOODY of the Board Of Health as to whether the remains of Charley BARDELL were interred here between November 1 and November 25 of last year. The letter states that a woman claiming to be the widow of the supposed dead man called on the writer and left with her a two year old baby. The mother of the child then disappeared and has not been heard from since. The information in possession of Mrs. WALLACE is that the body of BARDELL was shipped from Ashland, Oregon to Portland, Oregon and then fro there to Oakland where it was interred, The records of the Health Department do not show any such burial permit. DILLEN, whose death was recorded in the Tribune yesterday afternoon had been yardmaster at West Oakland for the Southern Pacific Company the past fifteen years. He was the third of Southern Pacific Railroad men that took an active part in the great strike of 1894 and who have answered the last summons, A. D. WILDER, Western Division Superintendent and Joseph THOMPSON assistant division superintendent proceeding him. DILLEN had lived on this coast for the past twenty years and before he became Yardmaster he served as conductor. Shortly after the big strike he was made General Yardmaster, with supervision of the yards bith here and in San Francisco. For awhile thereafter he lived across the bay, but his health failed and he returned to make his home at 1521 West Ninth Street, taking charge of the yards at West Oakland. Heart trouble, from which he had long suffered, was the cause of his death. He was a member of Golden Gate Division, Order of Railroad Conductors of San Francisco, and he was very popular amoung railroad employees. Deceased was 49 years old and a native of Indiana.
