I have a very elusive John MURRAY, who had an American Seamen's Protection Certificate dated 1st July, 1848 stating he was born in New York, who then left San Francisco in 1855. A steerage ticket dated 20th Feb, 1855 for $US80.00 said he sailed on the ...?.....? Mary to Port Phillip (Victoria, Australia). His marriage certificate then states he was born in Middlesex, England. If any one can point me in the right direction I would be most appreciative. I was on the Mariner's and Ships List for a time but was not successful in my search.
