I'm looking for any information I can get on Benjamin Webster Martin Benjamin Webster Martin was born July 21, 1824, in northeast Dutchess county, New York. Around 1833 the family lived around Rochester, Monroe county New York. His father disappeared after the 1840 census. His mother, and a brother and sister moved to Michigan by 1860. In his mothers will, she mentions Ira Martin (son of Benjamin Webster Martin-deceased) and wants her brother Milton Webster of Parma, New York to be his guardian. The story is that Benjamin went west to the goldrush, was a carpenter and was killed in California, and his ring was sent back home. How he got to CA we don't know, how he was killed we don't know. Was the ring a wedding ring? And what happened to his wife and son?
