I am trying to find some info about the Dowling family in Northern Calif. Michael Dowling was born in Ireland. He married Julia Haggarty (not sure of spelling) in Boston. They moved to Marysville On their way to Trinity Center. Their oldest daughter Margaret was born in Calif in 1857. I have been told she was born in Marysville. Her death notice in the San Francisco Chronicle in 1939 said she was a native of Marysville. The oldest son William was born in 1859. I don't know if he was born in Marysville or Trinity Center. The family is listed in the 1860 Census for Trinity County. There were two other daughters born in Trinity Center. Nora (Honora) born in 1864 and Sarah in 1865. Michael was killed in an accident on a gold claim he was working in 1866. Julia and the 4 children moved to San Francisco and are vlisted there in the 1870 Census. However they may have returned to Marysville before going to SF. I am looking for any potential sources of info for the time they were in Marysville. I have called the County Recorder and St. Joseph's Church for any records they may have. These two sources start in 1858 so I may be out of luck. Since I will have to go to Marysville to check these records I was hoping that I may be able to get a few more sources before I go. If any one has any ideas about sources in the Marysville area for the 1850 to 1870 time frame for marriage, baptism (Catholic), birth or school records I would greatly appreciate it.
