    3. Sue, I know how excited you are about finding your ancestors on the ship sites, I found mine and was walking on air for days! Stick with the California sites, I have just found some wonderful things on the California rootsweb sites, and through this newsletter. There is another site that you might try looking up too, it is called, Native Daughters of the Golden West, you too could add your info, and become a member. Recently I have read much about the goldrush days, and found it to be so exciting, did you know that in 1849 40,000 men went to California to seek Gold and less than 800 women? I am very proud of the fact that my gggrandmother Washburn was tough enough to go around the Isthmus to California, even though she was a invalid, before the railroad was completed crossing the Isthmus. I have decided that I am going to buy myself a gold coin that was minted during the gold rush times to wear on a chain around my neck in her honor. Such wonderful colorful history the Goldrush days of California, those that went were not weak on brave, whether crossing the Isthmus or the continent via a wagon train. Good luck, have you searched any of the cemetery sites in California? You might try the mining areas of Nevada, since the silver strikes around Virginia City drew a lot of the miners out of California, it seems that many of the miners were a mobile lot. So excited for you, Dee Biegler Spokane, Wa. Sue Waite-Langley wrote: > > Bless you Dee for publishing these URL's. The first new find [on a 23 year > old project] in the past two years. Thank you! The first new find [on a 23 year old project] in the past two years. Thank you! I found my ancestor Waters Nathan WAITE (listed as Wait (??), Waters) aboard the SS Northern Light which left New York 5 Apr 1852. There are only two other references that I've found to date for Waters in in the North...an 1850 census entry in Cornwall Addison VT and his dismissal from the Cong. Church there 31 Jan 1852. I know now when he left for California! Yeah! Now...what other information might I be able to find with this date...and how can I go about locating it. I hope you can point me in the right direction. Looking forward to hearing from you.
