Hi all, big...general question... Where do I start to look for mining claims for my ancestor Waters Nathan Waite? I know he sailed for California 5 Apr 1852 from New York I know he was in Nevada City 1856...blacksmith I know he was in Laporte 1860...blacksmith I know he was in Cloverdale and Lake County 1870-1901 (he died there) But before that he was off to Dawson City circa 1898-1901 I know he discovered gold somewhere along the way...or in several somewhere's...two large gold nuggets (as big as my thumb) are passed down...one in his daughter's line...one in his son's (my dad has one)...and the heavy gold chains his daughter is wearing as a teenager in several portraits suggest he'd found more than a little...but I don't have a clue how to track these claims...any help would be very, very appreaciated.
