I am looking for an ancestor, Hugh NEISLER, that was in the 1840 & 1860 Henderson Co, TN, census. However, I am unable to locate him anywhere in 1850. I am trying to research the possibility that he went west during the CA Gold Rush. Can someone tell me possible routes that a TN resident would have taken to get there? Also, how likely is it that his wife and children would have travelled with him? I seem to have misplaced his entire family. Thanks for your help. Sandra
