Sandra, it seems you are on a roll, so can I toss out my frustrating family for you or anyone else who can give me help or direction. This too is for one of our friends in Australia. On the 1870 census for Grass Valley, I find John Finlay ROBINSON with his wife Matilda (James) ROBINSON (both from Ireland) and their young son William James ROBINSON born September 2, 1868. According to William, Matilda died in 1870 and is buried in Grass Valley. That would have to have been between June 1 census and the end of the year. She would have been about 27 years old and it is believed she died in childbirth. I have phoned the County Offices and had Searls do research. Can not find record of birth for William, record of death for Matilda or where she is buried. Is there a record of who is buried where in Grass Valley? Any help or direction will be greatly appreciated. I plan to make a trip to Grass Valley and Nevada City for some of my own family records (ODGERS & PEARD) and if I knew what cemetery Matilda was buried in, I could take a picture and send it to the family.
