    3. Jan, I second that thought, "Thank you Bob" - Great job!!! Keep 'em coming! Accord to Historic Spots in California (lots on the list call this their favorite book)... HORSE SHOE BAR is in Placer County. "Placer County, embracing several branches of the American River besides Bear River, include scores of river-bar camps." The article goes on to talk of Beal's Bar where "John Sinclair and some 50 Indian laborers, in the spring and summer of 1848, were among the first to mine on the North Fork of the American River......Sinclair had been engaged about five weeks when his Indians who used simple closely-woven willow baskets" made him a rich man. His net proceeds.....were about $16,000 worth of gold. "BEAL'S BAR is now under Folsom Lake which also covers the site of a number of settlements along the North Fork of the American Rive, chief among them HORSESHOE BAR, SMITH'S BAR, and RATTLESNAKE BAR....". I found this interesting, hope you do to..
